Istana Berbatik is a government-led fashion event held in honour of National Batik Day, celebrating batik as a living cultural practice with deep historical and social significance in Indonesia.

I developed the visual identity to unify diverse batik traditions into a single, cohesive system, shaping how the event was encountered across digital and physical touchpoints while preserving the authenticity and spirit of each reference. The challenge was creating an identity that felt inclusive and celebratory without flattening cultural nuance.

Inspired by batik from Lasem, Pekalongan, Jogja, and Solo, the visual language translates regional patterns and colours into a dynamic contemporary system. This approach allows batik to be experienced as vibrant, expressive, and present, reinforcing its relevance within a modern cultural context.
